WebApr 9, 2024 · This is a nice diagonal, but note that the clear aperture is restricted to around 40mm to 42mm because of the eyepiece barrel stop in the top of the diagonal body. I believe this is fairly common. I use the Baader diagonal because it has a 47mm+ clear aperture, slightly larger than the rear opening in my C9.25 SCT. WebDec 18, 2024 · If you don't mind the slightly dimmer view of Amici diagonals and the longer light path that is up to you. The light in an Amici diagonal bounces off the prism surfaces 5 times verses one for a mirror or 90 degree diagonal prism. Most of the time you won't notice it unless you test them side-by-side.

If you are trying keep weight down for a travel package, seems like an extra pound just for the diagonal ought to be considered, especially if you are committed to 1.25" eyepieces for that reason as well. In the long f/ratio scope, a prism diagonal will do just fine, and the Baader is a fine example of the breed. 32mm or 34mm--either is fine to field the light cone for a 1.25" eyepiece.

Dielectric coatings (if done right) will result in less scattered light.
